FaCiNg YoU

There is a freckle
that lives at the corner of your eye
And when i see it

I am reminded of sandboxes and Capri Suns
Soccer fields and junebugs
(and ladybugs and lightning bugs, too, for that matter)

Even though your hair is gone
And laugh lines have carved
deep parentheses around your mouth

There is a certain comfort
knowing the history of that freckle
goes unchanged

despite
the ever-changing landscape
of your face

The prompt for this week over at Theme Thursday was FACE.  Go check out some great stuff!

The sentiments expressed are beautiful and the love, obvious. Wonderful poem about a freckle.I love that that freckle has the same appearance though the landscape of her face is ever-changing. Wow! Wish I had a freckle!

Great expression there -
'laugh lines have carved
deep parentheses around your mouth'.

I really like this. Those last two stanzas are so well worded.

I'm a freckly heckler by nature, but I will certainly give those little blots of me - and my wrinkles - a lot more respect in the future...!lol

This is so lovely. It touches me at the core as a mother of a darling 4yo boy whose freckle on his cheek is weaving history as I write.

"There is a certain comfort" indeed in such love-filled familiarity. Thanks for sharing...
